Knowledge Transfer

Our institute contributes to a knowledge pool, which feeds into innovative, cost-efficient and self-sustaining restoration solutions. Two instructive examples are the bioengineering of polluted mining waters and the conception of soil coverage systems for heaps and dumps. In contrast, more costly technical solutions are rarely durable and maintenance free. Other FIB services concern the site survey, soil amelioration and fertilisation, the evaluation of agricultural land, forest assessments and the ecological monitoring of construction measures.

A matter of heart is the qualification of junior researchers. Therefore, we supervise bachelor, master and doctoral students. In addition, each year numerous students do their practical training at the FIB to prepare for a promising job career. Not least the institute is a recognized employee for the German Volunteer Service and the Voluntary Ecological Year
